Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) visited a man who had become as weak as a baby bird due to illness. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Do you supplicate to Allah for anything? He replied: Yes, I say, "O Allah! Whatever punishment You have destined for me in the Hereafter, give it to me here in this world." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You cannot bear that. (The narrator is unsure, perhaps these are the words) You do not have the strength for that. Why do you not say: "O Allah! Grant us goodness in this world and goodness in the Hereafter, and save us from the punishment of the Fire." The narrator states: He then supplicated to Allah with this prayer, and Allah granted him healing.
