Chapter of Supplications - Description of the Prophet’s seeking forgiveness in the mentioned number
Hadith 927
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلْمٍ ، بِبَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ الْعَدَنِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سُوقَةَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : رُبَّمَا أَعُدُّ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْمَجْلِسِ الْوَاحِدِ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ : " رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَتُبْ عَلَيَّ ، إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I have sometimes noticed that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) would recite this one hundred times in a single gathering: "O Allah! Forgive me, accept my repentance, indeed You are the Acceptor of repentance, the Most Merciful."
