Hadith 926
أَخْبَرَنَا أبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي الْمُغِيرَةِ ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ رَجُلا ذَرِبَ اللِّسَانِ عَلَى أَهْلِي ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنِّي خَشِيتُ أَنْ يُدْخِلَنِي لِسَانِي النَّارَ ، فَقَالَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " فَأَيْنَ أَنْتَ عَنِ الاسْتِغْفَارِ ؟ إِنِّي لأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ فِي الْيَوْمِ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ " . قَالَ أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ : فَذَكَرْتُهُ لأَبِي بُرْدَةَ ، فَقَالَ : " وَأَتُوبُ " .
Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I was a person who used to speak harshly with my wife. I said: O Messenger of Allah! I fear that my tongue will cause me to enter Hell. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then why are you neglectful of seeking forgiveness? I seek forgiveness from Allah one hundred times every day. Abu Ishaq says: I narrated this hadith before Abu Burdah, and he said: (These words are also in the narration) "I repent" (that is, I repent and seek forgiveness one hundred times every day).
