Chapter of Supplications - The three things that, if one asks Allah for them, he is granted one of them
Hadith 922
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ سَلْمٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " أَتَى جِبْرِيلُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَأْمُرُكَ أَنْ تَدْعُوَ بِهَؤُلاءِ الْكَلِمَاتِ ، فَإِنِّي مُعْطِيكَ إِحْدَاهُنَّ ، قَالَ : اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ تَعْجِيلَ عَافِيَتِكَ ، أَوْ صَبْرًا عَلَى بَلِيَّتِكَ ، أَوْ خُرُوجًا مِنَ الدُّنْيَا إِلَى رَحْمَتِكَ " .
Sayyidah Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Sayyiduna Jibreel (peace be upon him) came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: Indeed, Allah Almighty commands you to supplicate with these words, I will grant you one of these things. "O Allah! I ask You for Your swift well-being, or patience upon Your trial, or to depart from this world towards Your mercy."
