Chapter of Supplications - Permissibility of sending blessings upon a fellow Muslim, contrary to those who restrict it to prophets only
Hadith 916
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الأَسْوَدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ نُبَيْحٍ الْعَنَزِيِّ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : أَتَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَنَادَتْهُ امْرَأَتِي ، فَقَالَتْ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، صَلِّ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَى زَوْجِي ، فَقَالَ : " صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْكِ وَعَلَى زَوْجِكِ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to us, and my wife said in a loud voice in your presence: O Messenger of Allah! Please supplicate for mercy for me and my husband. So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: May Allah send mercy upon you and your husband.
