Chapter on Supplications – On the permissibility to raise one’s hands when supplicating to Allah
Hadith 877
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الْقَطَّانُ بِالرَّقَّةِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ الأَنْطَاكِيُّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ فِي الدُّعَاءِ حَتَّى يُرَى بَيَاضُ إِبْطَيْهِ " .
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to raise both his hands during supplication, to the extent that the whiteness of his armpits would become visible.
