Chapter on Supplications (Du‘a)
Hadith 866
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى بِخَبَرٍ غَرِيبٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا قَطَنُ بْنُ نُسَيْرٍ الصَّيْرَفِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَسْأَلُ أَحَدُكُمْ رَبَّهُ حَاجَتَهُ كُلَّهَا ، حَتَّى شِسْعَ نَعْلِهِ إِذَا انْقَطَعَ " .
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Every person should ask his Lord for all his needs, even if the strap of his sandal breaks, (he should ask that too from his Lord)."
Hadith 867
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الأَسْوَدُ بْنُ شَيْبَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي نَوْفَلِ بْنِ أَبِي عَقْرَبَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُعْجِبُهُ الْجَوَامِعُ مِنَ الدُّعَاءِ " . قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : أَبُو نَوْفَلٍ اسْمُهُ : مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ أَبِي عَقْرَبَ ، مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَصْرَةِ .
Sayyidah Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) liked comprehensive supplications.
(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The narrator named Abu Nawfal is Muawiyah bin Muslim bin Abu Aqrab, and he is from Basra.
