Chapter on Remembrance – On the phrase that protects from sudden calamity until evening if said in the morning, and until morning if said in the evening
1 hadith
Hadith 862
Sayyiduna Uthman Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever recites these words three times in the morning: 'In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing in the earth or the sky can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing,' then no sudden calamity will befall him until the evening. And whoever recites these words in the evening, then no sudden calamity will befall him until the morning." The narrator states: He was afflicted with paralysis, so it was said to him: You narrated this hadith to us, so why did you not act upon it yourself? He replied: Allah Almighty intended this for me, so I did not remember it. (That is, I forgot to recite the supplication.)
