Chapter on Remembrance – On the phrase that, if said in the morning, fulfills the gratitude for that day
Hadith 861
أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ مَوْهَبٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بِلالٍ ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، وَهُوَ رَبِيعَةُ الرَّأْيِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَنْبَسَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ قَالَ حِينَ يُصْبِحُ : اللَّهُمَّ مَا أَصْبَحَ بِي مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ ، أَوْ بِأَحَدٍ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ ، فَمِنْكَ وَحْدَكَ لا شَرِيكَ لَكَ ، فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ وَلَكَ الشُّكْرُ ، فَقَدْ أَدَّى شُكْرَ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمَ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates this statement of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): Whoever recites in the morning: "O Allah! Whatever blessing I or any of Your creation receives today is from You alone, You have no partner. All praise is for You and thanks is for You." The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: That person has fulfilled the gratitude for that day.
