Chapter on Remembrance – On the angels surrounding those who gather to remember Allah and the descent of tranquility upon them
Hadith 855
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ الْبَزَّارُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنِ الأَغَرِّ ، قَالَ : أَشْهَدُ عَلَى أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنَّهُمَا شَهِدَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " مَا جَلَسَ قَوْمٌ يَذْكُرُونَ اللَّهَ ، إِلا حَفَّتْهُمُ الْمَلائِكَةُ ، وَغَشِيَتْهُمُ الرَّحْمَةُ ، وَنَزَلَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّكِينَةُ ، وَذَكَرَهُمُ اللَّهُ فِيمَنْ عِنْدَهُ " .
Agharr says: I bear witness about Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri and Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with them, that both of these companions bore witness regarding the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, and narrated this statement: The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When a group of people remember Allah, the angels surround them, mercy descends upon them, tranquility descends upon them, and Allah mentions them among those who are with Him (the angels in His presence)."
