Chapter on Remembrance – On the necessity to remember Allah in all circumstances without relying solely on divine decree
Hadith 852
أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ الْجُنَيْدِ بِبُسْتَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو ضَمْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَوْدُودٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، عَنْ أَبَانَ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ قَالَ حِينَ يُصْبِحُ : بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لا يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَيْءٌ فِي الأَرْضِ وَلا فِي السَّمَاءِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ ، ثَلاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ، لَمْ تَفْجَأْهُ فَاجِئَةُ بَلاءٍ حَتَّى يُمْسِيَ ، وَإِنْ قَالَهَا حِينَ يُمْسِي لَمْ تَفْجَأْهُ فَاجِئَةُ بَلاءٍ حَتَّى يُصْبِحَ " .
Sayyiduna Uthman Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "Whoever recites in the morning: 'In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing in the earth or the sky can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing,' then no sudden trial will befall him until the evening. And if he recites it in the evening, then no trial will befall him until the morning."
