Chapter on Remembrance – On Allah recording a charity for every glorification, magnification, praise, and declaration of oneness
Hadith 838
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَسْمَاءَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مَهْدِيُّ بْنُ مَيْمُونٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا وَاصِلٌ مَوْلَى أَبِي عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَقِيلٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ يَعْمُرَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الأَسْوَدِ الدِّيلِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ ، أَنَّ نَاسًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالُوا لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، ذَهَبَ أَهْلُ الدُّثُورِ بِالأَجْرِ ، يُصَلُّونَ كَمَا نُصَلِّي ، وَيَصُومُونَ كَمَا نَصُومُ ، وَيَتَصَدَّقُونَ بِفُضُولِ أَمْوَالِهِمْ ، قَالَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَولَيْسَ قَدْ جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ مَا تَتَصَدَّقُونَ بِهِ ، كُلُّ تَسْبِيحَةٍ صَدَقَةٌ ، وَكُلُّ تَكْبِيرَةٍ صَدَقَةٌ ، وَكُلُّ تَحْمِيدَةٍ صَدَقَةٌ ، وَكُلُّ تَهْلِيلَةٍ صَدَقَةٌ ، وَأَمْرٌ بِمَعْرُوفٍ صَدَقَةٌ ، وَنَهْيٌ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ صَدَقَةٌ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Some of the noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) said to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): O Messenger of Allah! The wealthy people have taken all the reward. They pray as we pray, they fast as we fast, but they give charity from their extra wealth. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Has Allah not made for you that which you can give as charity? «سبحان اللہ» is charity. «اللہ اکبر» is charity. «الحمدللہ» is charity. Reciting «لا الله الا اللہ» is charity. Enjoining good is charity. Forbidding evil is charity.
