Chapter on Remembrance – On Allah’s favor of erasing sins and recording good deeds for those who glorify Him
Hadith 825
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الطَّالَقَانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى الْجُهَنِيُّ ، عَنْ مُصْعَبِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا جُلُوسًا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " أَيَعْجَزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَكْتَسِبَ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ أَلْفَ حَسَنَةٍ ؟ " فَسَأَلَهُ نَاسٌ مِنْ جُلَسَائِهِ : وَكَيْفَ يَكْتَسِبُ أَحَدُنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ أَلْفَ حَسَنَةٍ ؟ قَالَ : " يُسَبِّحُ اللَّهَ مِائَةَ تَسْبِيحَةٍ ، فَيَكْتُبُ اللَّهُ لَهُ أَلْفَ حَسَنَةٍ ، وَيَحُطُّ عَنْهُ أَلْفَ سَيِّئَةٍ " .
Mus'ab bin Sa'd narrates from his father, Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him): We were sitting with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) when he said: Is there anyone among you who can earn one thousand good deeds every day? The people sitting with him asked: O Messenger of Allah! How can any one of us earn one thousand good deeds every day? The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: He should recite «سبحان الله» one hundred times, and Allah Almighty will write one thousand good deeds for him and erase one thousand of his sins.
