Hadith 809
أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، أَنَّ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَبِيبَةَ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ سَعْدَ بْنَ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " خَيْرُ الذِّكْرِ الْخَفِيُّ ، وَخَيْرُ الرِّزْقِ ، أَوِ الْعَيْشِ ، مَا يَكْفِي " . الشَّكُّ مِنِ ابْنِ وَهْبٍ .
Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: “The best remembrance is that which is in a low voice, and the best provision (necessities of life—the narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words: better life) is that which suffices.” In this narration, the doubt in the wording is from the narrator named Ibn Wahb.
