Chapter on Recitation of the Quran – On the permissibility to recite the Quran while resting one’s head in the lap of a menstruating wife
Hadith 798
أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَضَعُ رَأْسَهُ فِي حِجْرِ إِحْدَانَا ، فَيَتْلُو الْقُرْآنَ وَهِيَ حَائِضٌ " .
Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would recite the Qur'an while resting his head in the lap of one of us (the noble wives), even though that woman was in the state of menstruation.
