Chapter on Recitation of the Quran – On affirming Allah’s love for those who love Surat Al-Ikhlas
Hadith 793
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِلالٍ ، أَنَّ أَبَا الرِّجَالِ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَهُ ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ عَمْرَةَ بِنْتِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بَعَثَ رَجُلا عَلَى سَرِيَّةٍ ، فَكَانَ يَقْرَأُ لأَصْحَابِهِ فِي صَلاتِهِمْ : قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ سورة الإخلاص آية 1 فَلَمَّا رَجَعُوا ، ذَكَرُوا ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " سَلُوهُ لأَيِّ شَيْءٍ صَنَعَ هَذَا ؟ " فَسَأَلُوهُ ، فَقَالَ : أَنَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَقْرَأَهَا ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَخْبِرُوهُ أَنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّهُ " .
Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed a man as the leader of an expedition. He used to recite Surah Ikhlas while leading his companions in prayer. When they returned, they mentioned this to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Ask him why he does so. The people asked him, and he replied: I like to recite this Surah. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Inform him that Allah Almighty also loves him.
