Chapter on Recitation of the Quran – On Satan fleeing from a house where Surat Al-Baqarah is recited
Hadith 783
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لا تَتَّخِذُوا بُيُوتَكُمْ مَقَابِرَ ، صَلُّوا فِيهَا ، فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لِيَفِرُّ مِنَ الْبَيْتِ يَسْمَعُ سُورَةَ الْبَقَرَةِ تُقْرَأُ فِيهِ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Do not make your homes graveyards; perform prayers there, for Satan flees from a house in which he hears Surah Al-Baqarah being recited."
