Sayyiduna Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The believer who recites the Qur'an is like a citron, whose taste is sweet and whose fragrance is pleasant. And the believer who does not recite the Qur'an is like a date, whose taste is sweet but it has no fragrance. And the hypocrite (the narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words: a wicked person) who recites the Qur'an is like the fruit called Rayhanah, whose fragrance is good but its taste is bitter. And the hypocrite (the narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words) or wicked person who does not recite the Qur'an is like the colocynth, whose taste is bitter and it has no fragrance."
