Chapter on Recitation of the Quran – On the angels surrounding those who recite and study the Book of Allah, and mercy encompassing them
Hadith 768
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ عَدِيٍّ أَبُو عَمْرٍو بِنَسَا ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدُ ابْنُ زَنْجُوَيْهِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَاضِرُ بْنُ الْمُوَرِّعِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا جَلَسَ قَوْمٌ فِي مَسْجِدٍ مِنْ مَسَاجِدِ اللَّهِ ، يَتْلُونَ كِتَابَ اللَّهِ ، وَيَتَدَارَسُونَهُ بَيْنَهُمْ ، إِلا نَزَلَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّكِينَةُ ، وَغَشِيَتْهُمُ الرَّحْمَةُ ، وَحَفَّتْهُمُ الْمَلائِكَةُ ، وَذَكَرَهُمُ اللَّهُ فِيمَنْ عِنْدَهُ . وَمَنْ أَبْطَأَ بِهِ عَمَلُهُ لَمْ يُسْرِعْ بِهِ نَسَبُهُ " .
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whenever a group of people sit in the mosque of Allah, reciting the Book of Allah and teaching it to one another, tranquility descends upon them, mercy covers them, the angels surround them, and Allah mentions them to those who are with Him (the angels). And whoever is slowed down by his deeds, his lineage will not speed him up."
