Chapter on Recitation of the Quran – Explaining that the last rank of the reciter in Paradise is at the last verse he recited in this world
Hadith 766
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ الْكَلاعِيُّ ، بِحِمْصَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُقْبَةُ بْنُ مُكْرَمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ زِرٍّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يُقَالُ لِصَاحِبِ الْقُرْآنِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ : اقْرَأْ وَارْقَ وَرَتِّلْ كَمَا كُنْتَ تُرَتِّلُ فِي دَارِ الدُّنْيَا ، فَإِنَّ مَنْزِلَتَكَ عِنْدَ آخِرِ آيَةٍ كُنْتَ تَقْرَؤُهَا " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It will be said to the memorizer of the Qur'an on the Day of Resurrection: Start reciting and begin ascending (the ranks of Paradise), and recite slowly and distinctly as you used to recite slowly and distinctly in the world. Your position will be at the last verse you recite."
