Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) had a specific bed, which was made from a particular type of (leaves or branches). There was a black sheet on it, inside which we had filled those types of leaves. Once, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was lying on it. When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) saw both of them, he sat up straight. Both of them saw that there were marks of the bed on the side of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), so Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) began to weep. They said: O Messenger of Allah! The bed and bedding that we see you using, does its hardness not cause you discomfort, while Caesar and Chosroes rest on silk and brocade? The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: Do not say this, for the beds of Caesar and Chosroes will be in Hell, and my bed and my bedding, their place is in Paradise.
