Chapter on Poverty, Asceticism, and Contentment – Clarification that Allah made the fate of the food of the son of Adam in this world a parable for it
Hadith 702
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ بِسْطَامٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حُذَيْفَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ عُتَيٍّ ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ مَطْعَمَ ابْنِ آدَمَ ضُرِبَ لِلدُّنْيَا مَثَلا بِمَا خَرَجَ مِنِ ابْنِ آدَمَ ، وَإِنْ قَزَّحَهُ ، وَمَلَّحَهُ ، فَانْظُرْ مَا يَصِيرُ إِلَيْهِ " .
Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The example of the world can be given through what the son of Adam eats; whatever comes out of the body of the son of Adam. Even though he puts spices and salt in it, you should consider what it becomes (after staying in a person's stomach)."
