Hadith 693
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مُوسَى ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ صَوْتَ زُمَّارَةِ رَاعٍ ، قَالَ : فَجَعَلَ إِصْبَعَيْهِ فِي أُذُنَيْهِ ، وَعَدَلَ عَنِ الطَّرِيقِ وَجَعَلَ ، يَقُولُ : يَا نَافِعُ أَتَسْمَعُ ؟ فَأَقُولُ : نَعَمْ ، فَلَمَّا قُلْتُ : لا ، رَاجَعَ الطَّرِيقَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " هَكَذَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَفْعَلُهُ " .
Nafi narrates: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) heard the sound of a shepherd’s flute, so he put both his fingers in his ears and moved aside from the path. He kept saying: “O Nafi! Do you still hear the sound?” I would reply, “Yes!” When I said, “Now I do not hear it,” he returned to the path. Then he said, “I saw the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) doing the same.”
