Hadith 681
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مُسْهِرٍ ، عَنْ خَرَشَةَ بْنِ الْحَرِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ ، قَالَ : بَيْنَمَا أَنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ إِذْ قَالَ : " انْظُرْ أَرْفَعَ رَجُلٍ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فِي عَيْنَيْكَ " فَنَظَرْتُ فَإِذَا رَجُلٌ فِي حُلَّةٍ جَالِسٌ يُحَدِّثُ قَوْمًا ، فَقُلْتُ : هَذَا ، قَالَ : " انْظُرْ أَوْضَعَ رَجُلٍ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فِي عَيْنَيْكَ " ، قَالَ : فَنَظَرْتُ فَإِذَا رُوَيْجِلٌ مِسْكِينٌ فِي ثَوْبٍ لَهُ خَلْقٍ ، قُلْتُ : هَذَا ، قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " هَذَا خَيْرٌ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مِنْ قَرَارِ الأَرْضِ مِثْلَ هَذَا " .
Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once I was present in the mosque with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). During that time, he said: "Look and tell me, who among those before you in the mosque is the person of the highest status?" I observed, and there was a man wearing a cloak, sitting and conversing with people. I replied: "This person." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Now observe and tell me, who among those before you is the person of the lowest status?" I observed, and there was a poor man sitting in old clothes. I said: "This person." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This (poor person), on the Day of Resurrection, will be better in the sight of Allah Almighty than (rich men like) a whole earth full of such people."
