Chapter on Poverty, Asceticism, and Contentment – Allah’s grace to the poor emigrants by admitting them to Paradise before the rich
Hadith 677
أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : بَيْنَا أَنَا جَالِسٌ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ ، وَحَلْقَةُ مِنْ فُقَرَاءِ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ وَسَطَ الْمَسْجِدِ جُلُوسٌ ، فَدَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَسْجِدَ نِصْفَ النَّهَارِ ، فَانْطَلَقَ إِلَيْهِمْ ، فَجَلَسَ مَعَهُمْ ، فَلَمَّا رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، جَلَسَ إِلَيْهِمْ ، قُمْتُ إِلَيْهِ ، فَأَدْرَكْتُ مِنْ حَدِيثِهِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ : " بَشِّرْ فُقَرَاءَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ أَنَّهُمْ لَيَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ قَبْلَ الأَغْنِيَاءِ بِأَرْبَعِينَ عَامًا " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once I was sitting in the mosque. There was a group of poor emigrants sitting in a circle in the middle of the mosque. During this time, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the mosque; it was around midday. He went to those people and sat with them. When I saw that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had sat with them, I got up and came to you, and I found this part of your conversation. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was saying: "Give glad tidings to the poor emigrants that they will enter Paradise forty years before the wealthy people."
