Chapter on Poverty, Asceticism, and Contentment – Information that the wealthy will be delayed from entering Paradise for a period
Hadith 675
أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ مُجَاشِعٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ النَّهْدِيِّ ، عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ ، قَالَ : " قُمْتُ عَلَى بَابِ الْجَنَّةِ ، فَإِذَا عَامَّةُ مَنْ يَدْخُلُهَا الْمَسَاكِينُ ، وَإِذَا أَصْحَابُ الْجَدِّ مَحْبُوسُونَ ، وَإِذَا أَصْحَابُ النَّارِ قَدْ أُمِرَ بِهِمْ إِلَى النَّارِ ، وَنَظَرْتُ إِلَى النَّارِ ، فَإِذَا عَامَّةُ مَنْ يَدْخُلُهَا النِّسَاءُ " قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ : قَرَنَ عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى إِلَى أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ فِي هَذَا الْخَبَرِ سَعِيدَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ وَأَنَا أَهَابُهُ .
Sayyiduna Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "I stood at the gate of Paradise, and most of those who entered it were the poor, while the wealthy were held back. And when the people of Hell were ordered to enter Hell, I observed Hell, and most of those who entered it were women."
(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) Imran bin Musa has combined Sayyiduna Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) with Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) in this narration, and I am fearful of this.
