Hadith 674
Sayyiduna Miqdam bin Ma’dikarib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): “The son of Adam does not fill any vessel worse than his stomach. It is sufficient for the son of Adam to eat a few morsels that keep his back straight. If he must (eat more), then he should fill one third (of his stomach) with food, one third with drink, and one third with air (for breathing).”
