Sayyiduna ‘Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and said: Strive to save yourselves from Hellfire. Then he turned his face away and tried to shield his face. Then he said: Strive to save yourselves from Hellfire. Then he turned his face away and tried to shield his face, until it seemed to us as if he was seeing it. Then he said: “Strive to save yourselves from Hellfire, even if it be with half a date, and if you do not find that, then with a good word (strive to save yourselves from Hellfire).”

Sayyiduna Nu'man bin Bashir narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am warning you about Hell, I am warning you about Hell, I am warning you about Hell." (Sayyiduna Nu'man bin Bashir, may Allah be pleased with him, states) If the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) had been standing in my place at that time—Sayyiduna Nu'man was in Kufa at that time—even the people living in the market would have heard the voice of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), to the extent that (due to the intensity of his emotion) the sheet on his shoulder fell to his feet.
