Chapter on Fear and Piety – Clarification that this man used to exhume graves in the world
Hadith 651
أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ مُجَاشِعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ حِرَاشٍ ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " تُوُفِّيَ رَجُلٌ كَانَ نَبَّاشًا ، فقَالَ لِوَلَدِهِ : احْرِقُونِي ، ثُمَّ اسْحَقُونِي فَذُرُّونِي فِي الرِّيحِ ، فَسُئِلَ : مَا صَنَعْتَ ؟ قَالَ : مَخَافَتُكَ يَا رَبِّ ، قَالَ : فَغَفَرَ لَهُ " .
Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "A grave-robber passed away. He said to his son: Burn me, then crush me and scatter me in the wind. He was asked: Why did you do this? He replied: O my Lord! Out of fear of You. So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty forgave him."
