Chapter on Having Good Expectations of Allah – The Prophet’s encouragement to have good expectations of Allah
Hadith 638
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ بِثَلاثٍ : " لا يَمُوتَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلا وَهُوَ يُحْسِنُ الظَّنَّ بِاللَّهِ جَلَّ وَعَلا " .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) say, three days before his passing: "No person should die except while assuming good of Allah, the Exalted." (That is, every one of you should have good expectations from Allah, the Exalted, at the time of death.)
