Chapter on Repentance – Allah’s forgiveness for the repentant who seeks forgiveness even without preceding it with prayer
Hadith 624
أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ بِمَنْبِجَ ، وَإِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ بِطَرَسُوسَ ، فِي آخَرِينَ ، قَالا : حَدَّثَنَا حَامِدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْبَلْخِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ وَائِلِ بْنِ دَاوُدَ ، عَنِ ابْنِهِ بَكْرِ بْنِ وَائِلٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، أَوْ سَعِيدٍ ، أَوْ كِلاهُمَا ، شَكَّ حَامِدٌ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ لَهَا : " يَا عَائِشَةُ ، إِنْ كُنْتِ أَلْمَمْتِ بِذَنْبٍ ، فَاسْتَغْفِرِي اللَّهَ وَتُوبِي ، فَإِنَّ الْعَبْدَ إِذَا أَذْنَبَ ، ثُمَّ اسْتَغْفَرَ اللَّهَ ، غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهُ " مَا رَوَى وَائِلٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِهِ إِلا ثَلاثَةَ أَحَادِيثَ ، قَالَهُ الشَّيْخُ .
Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: O Aisha! If you intended to commit a sin, then seek forgiveness from Allah and repent, because when a servant commits a sin and then seeks forgiveness from Allah, Allah forgives him.
