Chapter on Repentance – Information about the necessity of constant repentance and turning back after mistakes
Hadith 616
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْجُنَيْدِ بِبُسْتَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الْخُزَاعِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ اللَّيْثِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِ ، وَمَثَلُ الإِيمَانِ كَمَثَلِ الْفَرَسِ فِي آخِيَّتِهِ يَجُولُ ، ثُمَّ يَرْجِعُ إِلَى آخِيَّتِهِ ، وَإِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ يَسْهُو ثُمَّ يَرْجِعُ إِلَى الإِيمَانِ ، فَأَطْعِمُوا طَعَامَكُمُ الأَتْقِيَاءَ ، وَوَلُّوا مَعْرُوفَكُمُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "The example of a believer and faith is like that of a horse tied to its peg; it wanders around but then returns to the same place. When a believer strays, he then returns to faith. O people! Feed your food to the pious and direct your good deeds towards the people of faith."
