Chapter on Repentance – Another report confirming what was previously mentioned
Hadith 613
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الثَّقَفِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَحْفُوظُ بْنُ أَبِي تَوْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ السَّهْمِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَيُّوبَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ حُمَيْدًا الطَّوِيلَ ، يَقُولُ : قُلْتُ لأَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ : أَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " النَّدَمُ تَوْبَةٌ " ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ .
Humaid At-Tawil narrates: I asked Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): Did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say this statement? "Remorse is repentance." He replied: Yes.
Hadith 614
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَرُوبَةَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا الْمُسَيَّبُ بْنُ وَاضِحٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ أَسْبَاطٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ مِغْوَلٍ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ خَيْثَمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " النَّدَمُ تَوْبَةٌ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "Remorse is repentance."
