Hadith 606
أَخْبَرَنَا حَامِدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ الْبَلْخِيُّ ، بِبَغْدَادَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَنْصُورُ بْنُ أَبِي مُزَاحِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَمْزَةَ ، عَنِ الزُّبَيْدِيِّ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ اللَّيْثِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ : أَنَّ رَجُلا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَيُّ الأَعْمَالِ أَفْضَلُ ؟ فقَالَ : " رَجُلٌ جَاهَدَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ بِمَالِهِ وَنَفْسِهِ " ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ مَنْ ؟ قَالَ : " مُؤْمِنٌ فِي شِعْبٍ مِنَ الشِّعَابِ يَعْبُدُ اللَّهَ ، وَيَدَعُ النَّاسَ مِنْ شَرِّهِ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He asked: O Messenger of Allah! Which deed has the most virtue? He replied: The person who strives in the way of Allah with his life and wealth. He asked: Then which one? He said: The believer who lives in a mountain pass, worships Allah Almighty, and keeps people safe from his evil.
