Chapter on Companionship and Sitting – Description of gatherings among Muslims
Hadith 585
أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ سَلْمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ دَرَّاجٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْهَيْثَمِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الْمَجَالِسُ ثَلاثَةٌ : سَالِمٌ ، وَغَانِمٌ ، وَشَاجِبٌ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates: The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There are three types of gatherings. (That is, three kinds of people participate in a gathering): One who is safe (that is, the one who remains silent), one who gains benefit (that is, the one who enjoins good), and one who is regretful (the one who speaks wrongly)."
