Chapter on Companionship and Sitting – Report explicitly confirming what was previously mentioned
Hadith 583
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ هُوَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا كُنْتُمْ ثَلاثَةً ، فَلا يَتَنَاجَى اثْنَانِ دُونَ صَاحِبِهِمَا حَتَّى يَخْتَلِطُوا بِالنَّاسِ ، فَإِنَّ ذَلِكَ يُحْزِنُهُ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "When you are three people, then two of you should not converse secretly with each other, leaving out your companion, until you mingle with other people (then you may converse secretly), because this will make him sad."
