Chapter on Companionship and Sitting – Allah’s love is guaranteed for one who visits his Muslim brother for His sake
Hadith 576
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ الْيَشْكُرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَنَّ رَجُلا زَارَ أَخًا لَهُ فِي قَرْيَةٍ أُخْرَى ، فَأَرْسَلَ اللَّهُ عَلَى مَدْرَجَتِهِ مَلَكًا ، فَلَمَّا أَتَى عَلَيْهِ ، قَالَ : أَيْنَ تُرِيدُ ؟ قَالَ : أَزُورُ أَخًا لِي فِي هَذِهِ الْقَرْيَةِ ، فقَالَ : هَلْ لَهُ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ تَرُبُّهَا ؟ قَالَ : لا ، إِلا أَنِّي أُحِبُّهُ فِي اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : فَإِنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ إِلَيْكَ ، إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ أَحَبَّكَ كَمَا أَحْبَبْتَهُ فِيهِ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A man set out to visit his brother in another town. Allah Almighty appointed an angel on his way. When the man came to the angel, the angel asked: 'Where are you going?' He replied: 'I am going to visit my brother in this town.' The angel asked: 'Has he done any favor to you which you are repaying?' The man replied: 'No! I love him for the sake of Allah Almighty.' The angel said: 'I am a messenger to you from Allah Almighty. Allah loves you as you love this person for the sake of Allah Almighty.'"
