Chapter on Companionship and Sitting – Description of those who love each other for Allah’s sake on the Day of Judgment, when people are fearful
Hadith 573
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ الْقَعْقَاعِ ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ مِنْ عِبَادِ اللَّهِ عِبَادًا لَيْسُوا بِأَنْبِيَاءَ ، يَغْبِطُهُمُ الأَنْبِيَاءُ وَالشُّهَدَاءُ ، قِيلَ : مَنْ هُمْ لَعَلَّنَا نُحِبُّهُمْ ؟ قَالَ : هُمْ قَوْمٌ تَحَابُّوا بِنُورِ اللَّهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَرْحَامٍ وَلا انْتِسَابٍ ، وُجُوهُهُمْ نُورٌ عَلَى مَنَابِرَ مِنْ نُورٍ ، لا يَخَافُونَ إِذَا خَافَ النَّاسُ ، وَلا يَحْزَنُونَ إِذَا حَزِنَ النَّاسُ " ، ثُمَّ قَرَأَ : أَلا إِنَّ أَوْلِيَاءَ اللَّهِ لا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ سورة يونس آية 62 .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Indeed, among the servants of Allah are some people who are not prophets, but the prophets and martyrs will envy them.” It was asked: Who are these people? (Tell us about them) so that we may love them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: They are those who love one another for the sake of Allah’s pleasure, without any kinship or other worldly connection. Their faces will be full of light and they will be upon pulpits made of light. When people will be afraid, they will have no fear; when people will be sad, they will have no sadness. Then he recited this verse: “Behold! Indeed, the friends of Allah will have no fear, nor will they grieve.”
