Chapter on Companionship and Sitting – Instruction to only keep company with the righteous and spend on them
Hadith 554
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حِبَّانُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ حَيْوَةَ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ غَيْلانَ ، أَنَّ الْوَلِيدَ بْنَ قَيْسٍ حَدَّثَهُ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ ، قَالَ : " لا تُصَاحِبْ إِلا مُؤْمِنًا ، وَلا يَأْكُلْ طَعَامَكَ إِلا تَقِيٌّ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "Keep the company of only a believer, and let only the righteous eat your food."
