Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: This verse, "He frowned and turned away," was revealed about Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umm Maktum (may Allah be pleased with him), who was blind. Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: He came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and began to say: O Messenger of Allah! Guide me. Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: At that time, one of the chiefs of the polytheists was sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) kept turning away from him and remained attentive to the chief. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: O so-and-so! Do you think there is any fault in what I am saying? He would reply: No. So regarding this, the verse was revealed: "He frowned and turned away."
