Hadith 525
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَوْنٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو قُدَيْدٍ عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَجُلٌ : يَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَتَى أَكُونُ مُحْسِنًا ؟ قَالَ : " إِذَا قَالَ جِيرَانُكَ : أَنْتَ مُحْسِنٌ ، فَأَنْتَ مُحْسِنٌ ، وَإِذَا قَالُوا : إِنَّكَ مُسِيءٌ ، فَأَنْتَ مُسِيءٌ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! When will I be counted among those who do good?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When your neighbor says that you are good, then you are good; and when people say that you are bad, then you are bad."
