Chapter on the Neighbor – Report indicating that avoiding harm to neighbors is part of faith
Hadith 510
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نَصْرٍ التَّمَّارُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ ، وَحُمَيْدٍ ، وَذَكَرَ الصُّوفِيُّ آخر معهما ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " الْمُؤْمِنُ مَنْ أَمِنَهُ النَّاسُ ، وَالْمُسْلِمُ مَنْ سَلِمَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ مِنْ لِسَانِهِ وَيَدِهِ ، وَالْمُهَاجِرُ مَنْ هَاجَرَ السُّوءَ ، وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ عَبْدٌ لا يَأْمَنُ جَارُهُ بَوَائِقَهُ " .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A believer is one from whom people are safe, and a Muslim is one from whose tongue and hand (other) Muslims remain safe, and a migrant is the person who distances himself from evil. By the One in Whose hand is my soul, such a servant will not enter Paradise whose neighbor is not safe from his harm."
