Chapter on Good Character – Kind words to a Muslim are like giving wealth when one has none.
Hadith 473
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْحَوْضِيُّ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ مُحِلِّ بْنِ خَلِيفَةَ ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ ، قَالَ : ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اتَّقُوا النَّارَ وَلَوْ بِشِقِّ تَمْرَةٍ ، فَإِنْ لَمْ تَجِدُوا فَبِكَلِمَةٍ طَيِّبَةٍ " .
Sayyiduna ‘Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Save yourselves from the Fire, even if it is by giving half a date (in charity), and if you do not find that, then (save yourselves) through a good word.”
