Hadith 451
أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنِ الْعَلاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنَّ رَجُلا ، قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ لِي قَرَابَةً أَصِلُهُمْ ، وَيَقْطَعُونِي ، وَأُحْسِنُ إِلَيْهِمْ وَيُسِيئُونَ إِلَيَّ ، وَأَحْلُمُ عَنْهُمْ وَيَجْهَلُونَ عَلَيَّ ، فقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَئِنْ كَانَ كَمَا تَقُولُ ، لَكَأَنَّمَا تُسِفُّهُمُ الْمَلَّ ، وَلا يَزَالُ مَعَكَ مِنَ اللَّهِ ظُهَيْرٌ ، مَا دُمْتَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! I have some relatives with whom I maintain ties of kinship, but they sever relations with me. I treat them well, but they treat me badly. I deal with them patiently, but they behave ignorantly towards me." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If the situation is as you describe, then it is as if you are throwing hot ashes upon them, and Allah’s help will continue to be with you as long as you continue doing so."
