Chapter on Ties of Kinship and Severing Them – Guarantee of Paradise for one who maintains family ties along with other acts of worship.
Hadith 437
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ يُونُسَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَوْهَبٍ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ طَلْحَةَ ، أَنَّ أَبَا أَيُّوبَ الأَنْصَارِيَّ ، أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ أَعْرَابِيًّا عَرَضَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَخَذَ بِزِمَامِ نَاقَتِهِ ، فقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَخْبِرْنِي بِأَمْرٍ يُدْخِلُنِي الْجَنَّةَ وَيُنْجِينِي مِنَ النَّارِ ؟ قَالَ : فَنَظَرَ إِلَى وُجُوهِ أَصْحَابِهِ وَكَفَّ عَنْ نَاقَتِهِ وَقَالَ : " لَقَدْ وُفِّقَ ، أَوْ هُدِيَ ، لا تُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ شَيْئًا ، وَتُقِيمُ الصَّلاةَ ، وَتُؤْتِي الزَّكَاةَ ، وَتَصِلُ الرَّحِمَ دَعِ النَّاقَةَ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A Bedouin came before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He caught hold of the reins of your camel and said: O Messenger of Allah! Tell me about a deed that will admit me to Paradise and save me from Hell. The narrator says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) looked at the faces of his companions and stopped his camel. He said: This person has been granted success. (The narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words:) He has been guided. Do not associate anyone with Allah, perform the prayer, pay the zakat, maintain the ties of kinship, and (now) let go of the camel.
