Chapter on Parents’ Rights – Denial of Paradise to one who claims a father other than his own.
Hadith 415
أَخْبَرَنَا حَامِدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ يُونُسَ ، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا خَالِدٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ ، قَالَ : لَمَّا ادُّعِيَ زِيَادٌ ، لَقِيتُ أَبَا بَكْرَةَ ، فَقُلْتُ : مَا هَذَا الَّذِي صَنَعْتُمْ ؟ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ سَعْدَ بْنَ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعَ أُذُنَايَ وَوَعَاهُ قَلْبِي ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنِ ادَّعَى أَبًا فِي الإِسْلامِ ، وَهُوَ يَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُ غَيْرُ أَبِيهِ ، فَالْجَنَّةُ عَلَيْهِ حَرَامٌ " فقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرَةَ : وَأَنَا سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
Abu Uthman narrates: When a claim was made regarding Ziyad, I met Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) and I said: What are you people doing? I heard Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) saying this, he says: Both my ears heard this and my heart preserved it. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever attributes himself to someone as his father in Islam, knowing that he is not his father, Paradise is forbidden for such a person.” So Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I also heard this from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
