Chapter on Acts of Obedience and Their Rewards – What Allah has promised believers in the Hereafter as reward for their deeds.
Hadith 370
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ : إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَكَ فَتْحًا مُبِينًا لِيَغْفِرَ لَكَ اللَّهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِكَ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ سورة الفتح آية 1 - 2 ، قَالَ : نَزَلَتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرْجِعَهُ مِنَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ ، وَإِنَّ أَصْحَابَهُ قَدْ أَصَابَتْهُمُ الْكَآبَةُ وَالْحُزْنُ ، فقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أُنْزِلَتْ عَلَيَّ آيَةٌ هِيَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا وَمَا فِيهَا " فَتَلاهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِمْ ، فَقَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، بَيَّنَ اللَّهُ لَكَ مَا يَفْعَلُ بِكَ فَمَاذَا يَفْعَلُ بِنَا ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ الآيَةَ بَعْدَهَا : لِيُدْخِلَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الأَنْهَارُ سورة الفتح آية 5 .
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates regarding the statement of Allah Almighty: (The command of Allah Almighty is) "Indeed, We have given you a clear victory, so that Allah may forgive you your past and future sins." Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) states: This verse was revealed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) upon his return from Hudaybiyyah. The companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) were facing distress and sorrow. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A verse has been revealed to me which is more beloved to me than the world and all that is in it. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse before the people. The people said: O Messenger of Allah! Allah Almighty has stated what He has done for you, but what will He do for us? (This has not been mentioned.) So Allah Almighty then revealed the following verse: "So that He may admit the believing men and believing women to gardens beneath which rivers flow."
