Hadith 368
أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْعَسْكَرِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نَشِيطٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْمُقْرِئُ ، عَنْ حَيْوَةَ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سَالِمُ بْنُ غَيْلانَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا السَّمْحِ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْهَيْثَمِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ إِذَا أَحَبَّ عَبْدًا ، أَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ، بِسَبْعَةِ أَضْعَافٍ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ لَمْ يَعْمَلْهَا ، وَإِذَا سَخِطَ عَلَى عَبْدٍ أَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ بِسَبْعَةِ أَضْعَافٍ مِنَ الشَّرِّ لَمْ يَعْمَلْهَا " .
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Indeed, when Allah Almighty loves a servant, He praises him with seven thousand virtues which that servant has not even committed, and when He is displeased with a servant, He mentions him with seven thousand evils which that person has not committed."
