أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلْمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شَقِيقُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي حُمْرَانُ مَوْلَى عُثْمَانَ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ عُثْمَانَ قَاعِدًا فِي الْمَقَاعِدِ ، فَدَعَا بِوَضُوءٍ فَتَوَضَّأَ ، ثُمَّ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فِي مَقْعَدِي هَذَا ، تَوَضَّأَ مِثْلَ وُضُوئِي هَذَا ، ثُمَّ ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ تَوَضَّأَ مِثْلَ وُضُوئِي هَذَا غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ " ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " وَلا تَغْتَرُّوا " .
Humran reports: I saw Sayyiduna Uthman Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him) sitting in the sitting places. He called for water for ablution and performed ablution. Then he stated: I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) at this very place, and he performed ablution just as I have performed. Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever performs ablution like this of mine, his past sins will be forgiven." Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do not fall into misunderstanding."
