Chapter on Acts of Obedience and Their Rewards – One must maintain hope and avoid despair, even if he struggles with both.
Hadith 346
أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ الْمِنْهَالِ ابْنِ أَخِي الْحَجَّاجِ بْنِ الْمِنْهَالِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ الْقُرَشِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَعْمَلُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ ، وَإِنَّهُ لَمِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ ، وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَعْمَلُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ النَّارِ وَإِنَّهُ لَمِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ " .
Sayyidah Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Sometimes a person keeps performing deeds like those of the people of Paradise, even though he is from the people of Hell. And sometimes a person keeps performing deeds like those of the people of Hell, even though he is from the people of Paradise."
